Head of Finance

Purpose of the role

The Head of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, budgeting, and reporting. This role ensures that the company’s financial operations are efficient and effective and that its financial policies are adhered to. The Head of Finance plays a critical role in strategic decision-making and financial forecasting to support the company’s growth and profitability.

Main responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve the company’s business objectives.
  • Lead the financial planning and budgeting processes, including annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the senior management team on financial matters, including business growth, investments, and risk management

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including tax, audit, and statutory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital to ensure the company’s liquidity and financial stability.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring that staff are developed and motivated to achieve high performance.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with other departments to ensure alignment of financial and business objectives.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks to protect the company’s assets and earnings.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax authorities and banks to represent the company’s financial interests.
  • Communicate financial performance and strategic initiatives to the Board of Directors.

Financial Systems & Processes

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, including automation and digital transformation initiatives.

    Skills & Experience

    • Qualified with recognised accounting body.

    • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven experience in financial strategy, planning, and analysis, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a high-performing finance team.
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • High level of integrity and dependability.
    • Strategic thinking with strong business acumen.
    • Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as ERP platforms.
    • Confidence and a good communicator
