Production Controller 

Purpose of the Role

To manage the production of a large range of titles from purchase order to completion by liaising with external manufacturers and internal teams

Main responsibilities

  • Liaising with Editorial/Design Teams to ensure timely receipt of PTP (print files) for supply to printers as per agreed schedules
  • Responsibility for project management work on a wide range of products from books, stationery and craft sets and managing more complex titles as experience grows. Actively sourcing solutions for any challenges encountered.  Working with immediate line manager to support for resolutions.
  • In conjunction with our Compliance Team, ensuring all products meet the required Safety and Compliance Standards for all relevant delivery destinations.  Working directly with various laboratories.
  • Independently monitoring individual milestone deadlines with both printer and component suppliers to maintain shipping dates.  Communicate with the Shipping Team to relay any issues or delays.
  • Attention to detail to check accuracy of PTP/plotters/advances, including distribution to relevant in-house teams and external (co-edition customers) for additional approvals where required.
  • Be able to independently negotiate amendments to printing schedules and component delivery dates where necessary to maintain final agreed delivery dates.
  • Communication with all in-house teams where relevant to ensure constant visibility.
  • Quality checking of final product before shipment
  • Maintain in-house database (Microsoft Dynamics) and collaborative documents (e.g. shared Excel sheets)

Skills & Experience

  • Good understanding of Adobe Pro and the intricacies of file set up and print processes.
